From Scrap to Spectacle: Botswana’s First 9-Metre Marvel Rises in Modipane

What began as a heartfelt request “Papa, re batla roboto!” has evolved into a towering testament to imagination and resilience. At Dream View Farms Modipane in the Kgatleng District, a 9-meter steel marvel named Kajumo now stands tall, forged from scrap metal and sculpted by the relentless hands of artisan and entrepreneur Kabelo Julius Morokotso.

Founder of Cyber Kajumo Rigs, Kabelo is redefining what it means to fabricate dreams into reality. Known for its expert welding and daily fabrication work from industrial builds to custom installations, Cyber Kajumo Rigs is not just a company, it's a creative forge where fantasy meets steel.

Designed by Mr Morokotso, a towering robotic statue called Kajumo crafted from old car rims, agricultural machinery parts, metal grates, and forgotten industrial scraps, represents something far deeper. It’s a symbol of possibility in the face of limitation. As Kabelo welded piece by piece with a generator and zero blueprint he sculpted a story the world couldn’t ignore.

Highlights of the Kajumo Journey:

- Built with bare hands and bold vision, using discarded metal and no formal plans
- Supported by New Era College, showcased at the Global Expo to inspire local STEM innovation and tinkering labs
- Featured by CNN Africa, bringing Botswana’s hidden creative force to international attention.
- The robots served as the background display to an HIV presentation that was being given by Canadian visitors.

Cyber Kajumo Rigs operates daily, offering custom gates, machinery repair, and futuristic metal installations all under Kabelo’s visionary eye. Yet it’s Kajumo, the playful giant, that signals something larger, there is another robotic statue called Letmo, another bold creation in his growing portfolio of robotic sculptures.

As children pose beneath Kajumo’s towering limbs in Modipane, the statue stands as more than metal, it’s a celebration of bold dreams, fatherhood, and Botswana’s boundless creativity.
